Chicken and Dumplings Casserole Ingredients

  • Dumplings:
    • all-purpose flour
    • baking powder
    • salt
    • egg
    • milk
  • Chicken Casserole Mixture:
    • olive oil
    • carrot
    • celery
    • onion
    • frozen peas
    • all-purpose flour
    • dried thyme
    • chicken broth
    • diced chicken (rotisserie, breasts or thighs)

How to Make Easy Chicken and Dumplings Casserole

How to Make:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Saute and Thicken:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat with the olive oil. Add in your diced carrots, onion and celery. Cook until soft.
    • Add in 3 tablespoons of flour, stirring while cooking for a minute. Slowly add in chicken broth, stirring constantly. Cook for a couple minutes until thickened.
  3. Add Ingredients:
    • Add diced chicken, dried thyme, salt, pepper and frozen peas. Stirring to combine evenly.
    • Remove from heat.
    • Pour into a greased baking dish, spreading out evenly.
  4. Prepare Dumplings:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Add in egg and milk, stirring just until combined. Dough should be thick and sticky.
    • Use a spoon to scoop and drop spoonfuls of the dumplings onto the chicken mixture.
  5. Bake in Oven:
    • Bake at 375 degrees uncovered in the oven for about 20 minutes. The dumplings should be a perfect golden brown when done.
    • Allow to stand for a couple minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  

Dumplings:

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 cup milk
